Ingredients

  • White bread - 8 slices
  • Milk - 88ml/ 6 tbsp
  • Cocoa Powder - 5.2g/ 2 tsp
  • Oil - as required for frying 
  • Water - 500ml/ 2 cups
  • Sugar - 500g/ 2 cups
  • Cardamom pods - 5 nos 

Instructions

  1. In a kadai, combine water, sugar, and cardamom pods. 
  2. Set the flame to medium-high and allow the sugar to dissolve, creating a syrup with a sticky consistency. 
  3. Cut the edges of the bread. 
  4. Then, chop the bread into small pieces. 
  5. In a bowl, add the chopped bread and milk.
  6. Knead it partially using your hands and add cocoa powder. 
  7. Knead the mixture thoroughly until you achieve a smooth dough. 
  8. Shape the dough into medium-sized balls.
  9. Heat oil in a kadai. 
  10. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the jamun balls into the oil. 
  11. Fry them until they develop a slightly crispy layer on the outside or until they become medium brown. 
  12. After frying, transfer the jamun balls to the syrup and let them soak for 2 hours. 
  13. Serve and enjoy!
